@Sea breeze: how come all water isn’t brackish water then? If this truly happened 6000 years ago, did the Himalayas suddenly rise? We know you need at least 50-to-500 of a species to allow for sufficient genetic diversity, how did everything survive?

Response to "The Flood is Real, Because ..."
by Simon ini remember one of the flowchart responses to people questioning the biblical flood was something along the lines that "every culture has a flood story".. of course, nearly everywhere has flooded at one time or another and we know there are minor floods and then there are the 1-in-1000 year kind of weather event, that tend to get a mention (anyone from the uk will still talk about the summer of '76, and that's probably nothing in comparison to a decent flood).. but the inference is that the flood must be real, because every culture has a flood story.. the best response is "now do dragons".. because apparently, nearly every culture also has a dragon legend.. does it mean dragons exist?
some desperate jw may show their ignorance by suggesting that man lived at the same time as dinosaurs and they are what the stories were based on.
fun fact: stegosaurus was a fossil when t-rex was alive for longer than it's been since t-rex has been a fossil to us - we're talking old, and no overlap (ignore the map in the cover of the old green bible).. do jws still even bother trying to defend the cray-cray aesop-fable kind of ot beliefs?.

There were floods that covered the world, the problem is that the world was defined as everything between the Euphrates and the Tigris. You don’t need the fantastical to create water, if all you know about the world is a few 100 miles large, everything that upsets your precarious situation is fantastical.
The early humans had experience with snakes, birds of prey and giant cats. Put all the most dangerous things together, sometimes with a human head, and you have the most dangerous creature of all, a dragon that embodies all the worst things you can find in the world, and as cultures shift, those dragon bodies become horse bodies in European, more snake like in Asian or whale and fish bodies in ocean-faring cultures, whatever seems strong and dangerous.

A single Bible verse that explains everything—hope even to the disfellowshipped
by Abraham1 in"through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for;.
through the fear of the lord evil is avoided.” (proverb 16:6, niv).
sin can be cancelled [yə·ḵup·par] by acts of goodness such as kindness [bə·ḥe·seḏ] and faithfulness, and sin can be avoided in loving remembrance [ū·ḇə·yir·’aṯ] of god.

You know what gives even more hope: the fact you aren’t judged for evil or good, there is nobody ‘out there’ that is observing you and threatening to punish you after you die. Just live your life, do the best you can to leave a positive impact and you’ll be happy,

by oompa inthe articles on the jw-cd which only go back to 1950 where we fought back the attacks.
i do not understand why they did not continue to blast our bible since it is such a fraud....down south in usa churches teach members how to refute dubs at their door.....but why did they stop blasting the nwt?
it is sooooooo easy to show a dub there is a bunch of made up crap in it.....i may have to help my local chruches.....if you need more info about the horrible fraud parts, feel free to pm me.........................oompa......even elders dont know

The primary criticism about the NWT is that it introduces the name Jehovah in many places even though it is blatantly incorrect to do so. The other is changing the words to completely change the concepts of for example the trinity and heaven and hell, as well as the crucifixion.
It doesn’t take many words to change the meaning of a sentence. But the denial of Christ for example is very atypical in Bibles, Catholics and Protestants made very accurate translations even though it didn’t necessarily support their viewpoints, they would write the inconsistencies off to mythos, allegory etc.
JWs simply took their watchtower publication and used it to make a ‘More accurate translation’ instead of using it the other way around. They pretty much admit, that they believe this is a translation guided by God himself, as he would’ve intended it to be written (in their interpretation of course). I clearly remember in the 80s that they pretty much came out and said that all extant original texts were somehow modified and they somehow distilled the original wording. Although every religion has made a choice to leave out certain books completely from their canon, just like the JW did, the JW simply changed the Bible itself, even though many verses they cannot support the translation from any extant original text.

I think a lot of the impression we got about the churches attacking the JW were overblown stories or completely made up. Nobody ever cared about the JW Bible, yes scholars will ‘attack’ it because the translation itself is poorly done and created with an agenda in mind, but after the Watchtower blew its credibility in serious circles, these scholars aren’t going to be rehashing their critiques in some vendetta, the JW religion after all is relatively insignificant.

California, so case was dismissed.
Apparently there was insufficient evidence, having only 1 witness appear.

Refuting the Alleged Evidence of Jesus' Resurrection
by truth_b_known inin the past few months there have been a few debates on this site over alleged evidence of the resurrection of jesus.
this can be a hot topic as most would agree that without the resurrection of jesus there would be no christianity.
i am not so sure of that, but i am more sure that dr. gary habermas' minimal facts approach to the resurrection has no evidentiary basis.. here is a 22 minute video on the topic.

@BluesBrother: the testimonium Flavianum is widely accepted to be a forgery and there are grave questions about the authenticity of the Tacitus passage, he does mention Christians but the establishment of Christ was introduced later in translation.
The question remains, why if the historicity of Jesus was established at the time, do his followers need to resort to forgeries, editing of the story and sometimes outright suppression of stories that don’t align with the majority opinion.

Great video, the claims put forward by so-called Christian scholars are easily refutable with simple logic. I’ve done it a few times on this forum. But then people have to accept the logic.

A Marxist is just a person that doesn’t understand economics. You don’t trade on past production, most oil trades is on futures. You pay for the expected future cost of drilling and transporting and consumption of oil.
Once you understand that, you understand why Keystone XL reduced costs under Trump. Why the Germans wanted Nordstrom2 despite the fact that it hasn’t moved a drop yet and would mean Russia invading Ukraine (this was predicted 2 years ago FYI by Trump, by Ted Cruz and a host of others).
So Biden was the direct cause of both the invasion of Ukraine and the price of gas rising besides all the other idiotic things he did (the extension of COVID, the variants since, economic depression etc)

Anyone else remember the Awake saying this?
by BottanicPepper ini may have put this in the wrong thread.
if so, i'm sorry.. my conundrum is this.... i am almost completely certain that an awake back in the 80's/90's mentioned a group of rock bands we shouldn't listen to and i seem to remember them actually naming guns and roses.. i can't find anything now, and i'm wondering if it's the mandela effect, or if it's another case of the cdrom versions of the awakes being doctored again.. does anyone else remember this?
or am i crazy?

@Biahi: Well, if your clientele is primarily sensitive folks, then it would make sense not to put out certain types of products. If your customers are asking for a specific thing and you don't carry it, you have to weight the risks and benefits as a business owner.
There are tons of people right now that stopped doing business in Russia because they hope they can put out a message. Others remain in Russia, because they have big stakes there and in China. Time will tell what will be profitable for them, bite the hand that feeds as they say.
